Voice chirps
A chirp is a short burst of live voice, up to 60 seconds. One person talks at a time. If someone is already talking, you'll see Busy and wait your turn, just like a real walkie-talkie.
In development · Coming first to iPhone
Kinlo is a walkie-talkie for the people who matter most. Hold the button, talk, let go. Your friends hear you live, even with their phone locked. No calls, no voicemail, no typing.
Kinlo isn't available in the App Store yet. Version 1.0 for iPhone is in final testing.
What is Kinlo?
Kinlo is a social communication app from Bottor Technologies, Inc. It brings back the instant, push-to-talk feel of a walkie-talkie for friends, family, couples and crews. There are no feeds to keep up with and no threads to answer later. Just short, live moments with the people closest to you.
The idea at Kinlo's heart is simple: what's heard once is gone. Chirps aren't stored as a history to scroll back through, and a missed chirp disappears after you play it.
Hold to talk and your voice reaches them as you speak, like a walkie-talkie and unlike a voice message.
Missed a chirp? It waits for you, plays once, then is erased. Chirps nobody hears expire after 7 days.
Friends you add by username and private groups you choose. You decide who can find you.
How Kinlo works
Find friends by username and send a request. Choose who can find you: everyone, friends of friends, or nobody.
Chirp one person directly, or a whole private group at once.
Hold the chirp button, speak, let go. Tones mark the start and end. Prefer not to hold? Switch to tap-to-talk.
Even on a locked iPhone. If they miss it, the chirp waits, plays once and disappears.

Flip to video while you chirp and they see you live. The camera only turns on when you choose, and if video can't connect, Kinlo falls back to voice.
A frequency is a private channel for your family, roommates, team or crew. Create one, invite people, give someone a role, or mute it for a while. Every pair of friends also gets a direct frequency of their own.
Friends find each other by username and accept or decline requests. Your email address is never shown to anyone, and you can block or report anyone from their profile.
See who's around before you chirp. Set yourself to Online, Busy or Quiet. Quiet means no sounds and no lock-screen chirps. Notifications let you know when your people reach out.

Voice and video chirps you missed wait for you, play once, then are erased. There's no archive.

Groups of up to 5 for family, roommates or crews, with invites, roles and mute.
Username search, friend requests, and control over who can find you. Your email is never shown.

The future of Kinlo
Kinlo starts as a walkie-talkie. Over time, we want it to be where your people share their moments too. These are planned for future releases. They aren't built yet, and their details and timing may change.
Photo, video and voice moments for your people, in Kinlo's here-then-gone spirit, with private Chirp Back replies.
